Valentine’s Day is for love and this mom right here LOVES her kids. So when it comes to making Valentine’s Day special for them, I always like to make a memory.
This year that memory is waffles. Waffles? Really?! Yes! But not just any type of waffles. Waffles…on a stick…shaped in a HEART! You see, my kids usually have one of three things in the morning for breakfast. Cereal with milk, oatmeal, or waffles. I use to give them tons of options but for whatever reason they almost always ask for those three. So I knew a cute little heart shaped waffle on a stick would be the perfect way to say, “I love you” this year. Paired up with chocolate and some yummy toppings, it turned out to be one delicious spread!
To start I made waffles using the Holstein Heart Waffle Maker. It comes with a small little cavity to hold sticks if you choose to. Otherwise you just heat up the maker, spray it with some oil, and pour in any waffle recipe.
I ended up cooking them on average about 5-6 minutes per waffle and they came out extra golden brown. Just the way we like them! Make sure you cool them on a rack for about 10 minutes and DON’T stack them! Otherwise they will be too soft.
Once they’ve cooled you have a few different options on how to consume them! First you can sprinkle some powdered sugar over the top of them and garnish with some toppings like strawberries or bananas! Simple and delicious!
If powdered sugar isn’t your thing, you can let the kids get in on the fun and melt a few Wilton candy pieces in their squeeze bottles and let the kids outline the heart in chocolate! They can immediately sprinkle it with Wilton valentine sprinkles and let it dry.
Or you can get all fancy and dip the waffles in whip cream and go crazy with combos like the ones below! Chocolate Banana, Coconut Chocolate Whip or Strawberries and Cream!
Are you ready to show your little ones a little love this Valentine’s Day! With this treat in their bellies, you will get all the heart eyes!
