Set the Scene for a Romantic Valentine’s Day for Two

Hearts, roses, your signature cocktail and chocolates, along with your favorite bottle of bubbly. What could be better to celebrate with your LOVE on this Valentine’s Day.

Just in time, I whipped up a perfect little guide to get you totally inspired for a romantic Valentine’s Day and the biggest date night of the year.

Set the scene:

Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion to show your sweetie some love and to do something a little extra special. And, what’s more romantic than “dinner for two” filled with love notes, flowers and a table setting fit for Romeo and Juliet? To keep things sweet, I went with a monochromatic color palette with different shades of pink and to set this scene, created a DIY pink and gold heart backdrop, which I absolutely adore!

Heart garland and backdrop:

With scrapbook paper, a heart shaped paper punch (or cookie cutter, scissors, clear thread or fishing wire and a embroidery needle in hand (and loads of patience), I created strands of hearts to form the back drop. Surely, it was a labor of love!

On the table:

Using a white tablecloth, I added a runner of off-white tulle, bud vases filled with pink sweetheart roses, hand written love notes, paper confetti, rose petals and scattered tiny blossoms down the runner and on the dinner plates for a romantic tone. BTW, never underestimate the power of tulle. It’s inexpensive, available in loads of colors and is so easy to work with. The floral bouquet included more shades of pink roses, (love the sweethearts!), hydrangeas, and a few sprays of eucalyptus. It was everything I wanted it to be for this setting.

Placesetttings:

To create the placesettings, I layered a Chilewich Brass Dahlia Placemat (love the coasters, too), a Marchesa Coral Charger Plate, which are a perfect shade of blush, topped it with Marchesa Shades White Party Plate and paired it all with Marchesa Imperial Caviar Gold Flatware, which is obviously my go-to when it comes to gold flatware. Three pieces of stemware are always in order for any special occasion; a GRANDE cocktail glass I found at HomeGoods to kick off this romantic evening, a Lenox Timeless Gold Champagne Flutefor ‘THE toast’, and a coordinating gold rimmed Wine Glass to enjoy your favorite red over dinner, dessert and…chocolate! I love the combination of the dinnerware and the way it works with the gold accessories and stemware.

Every girl knows the perfect date includes dessert. Make a homemade favorite or head to your fancy corner bakery, choose something you can’t resist, pop open a bottle of bubbly and enjoy!

Of course, you’ll want to add in some of your sweetie’s favorite sweet treats (and yours!). My favorites? Glad you asked. But, first, can we talk about these French Bull Word Snack Trays, because I’m in love with them. XOX! I filled them jellies, red Swedish Heart Fish, Starburst and scattered Sugarfina ‘kiss me’ sugar lips’ wherever I could.

Valentine’s Day is the perfect occasion for everything special and certainly, romantic. Add Valentine cards to the agenda, (these are my handmade ones from last Saturday’s Valentine’s card making sesh hosted by my friend, Cary!), love notes and cheers to a romantic date with your sweet Valentine!

xx, Deborah
