Want to Live to 100? Jason Wrobel Can Help

I first came across Jason Wrobel’s blend of cooking, educating and entertaining thanks to his Cooking Channel TV series How to Live to 100.

That said, I wouldn’t have guessed that the first time I’d see Jason live he’d be on stage one evening performing some impressive stand-up comedy. What an awesome introduction to a creative dynamo cooking up magic on every level of life!

Jason’s book Eaternity is a must-have for everyone interested in health and longevity. Packed with superfood-filled vegan recipes, there are also tons of tips and nutritional lessons to glow and grow your well being. For an immersion in video learning, his new online course — My Healthy Hustle — is a stellar guide to healthy food, fitness and a life in flow, and his YouTube is so much fun to watch and learn from, it’s addictive for wellness-loving foodies like me.

When the teacher so exemplifies the teaching, it’s hard to not be excited about everything he creates!

I’m so excited that Jason is sharing some lifestyle wisdom and amazing advice with us today.

Q & A

If you had an extra hour in your day every day, how would you spend it?

I’d spend that hour daydreaming with no agenda. No computer, phone or to-do list. Just me relaxing with my feet in the grass staring at the sky and allowing my mind to daydream freely.

If we could peek into your refrigerator, what would definitely be there?

So many things! There would definitely be some non-dairy milk – either almond, coconut or hemp seed milk, pine nuts, brazil nuts, gluten-free baking mix, 50 varieties of hot sauce, catsup, mustard, vegan mayo, kale, watercress, blueberries, fermented vegetables like sauerkraut, coconut yogurt, watermelon water, green juice, leftover smoothie from the morning, a large stockpiling of chocolate bars… that’s a pretty decent start to a long list!

Could you share your go-to recipe that’s now a classic? (you can send me a link if its easiest!)

My most popular recipe of all time is my Cauliflower Lentil Tacos with Fresh Guacamole. It’s hearty, healthy and filling like regular ground beef tacos, but with so much less fat, zero cholesterol and tons of alkaline plant-based nutrients. It’s my most downloaded recipe ever and was the most popular recipe from my Cooking Channel TV series, “How to Live to 100”. Get the recipe here.

How do you make yourself at home?

I make myself at home with music and scents. I love filling the room with my favorite music (usually soul music or Motown) and the smell of a home cooked meal, amazing incense or candles really makes me feel at ease in any environment.

What’s the best kitchen purchase you’ve ever made?

My Blendtec 800 series high-speed blender. I use it every single day. It’s become an indispensable tool in my kitchen arsenal and I use it for smoothies, soups, salad dressings, creams, puddings, ice creams, pie fillings… the list is a mile long. It’s the best investment I’ve ever made for my home kitchen. My favorite Wüsthof and Shun chef knives are tied for second place.

The one material object in your home that you cherish…

Honestly, it’s my bed. I invested in a beautiful Essentia eco-friendly memory foam mattress three years ago and have been in love ever since. It’s so comfortable that I dream of coming home to it after being away on book tour or business trips. I also purchased a 100% reclaimed wood bed frame from West Elm that looks very classy and rustic. My home bedroom setup is definitely swoon-worthy.

The one gadget or app that we all should have…

Download a Pomodoro timer app. It allows you to schedule breaks into chunks of your work day so you remember to get up, stretch, get water and fresh air. It’s been a lifesaver in terms of allaying fatigue and eye strain. It’s important to hustle, yes, but even more important to take breaks from the hustle and engage in self-care.

The daily habit that’s been game-changing…

Morning meditation, affirmations and prayer. Connecting with my inner being and cultivating a deeper connection to The Universe and God (the words are interchangeable to me) has made a massive difference in my overall mood and mental/emotional health. Before I start my work day or even turn the phone on, I make sure to take time to nourish myself with my morning routine. Oh, and drinking warm water with lemon or apple cider vinegar upon waking is a must. It instantly alkalizes your body.

The best lifestyle decision you ever made…

Deciding to become vegan 18 years ago. It is the single most important decision of my life. It’s brought healing, clarity, compassion, awareness and a deep sense of love into my life. It’s taken me to incredible places I never expected to be, both personally and professionally. I see that moment of decision back in 1998 as a major turning point in my life.
