Peaches are native to northwest China and are known for their fuzzy skins and bright colors. They are part of the stone fruit family, meaning they have a large seed in the middle. The two kinds of basic peaches are freestone and clingstone. The meaning is right there in the name and reflects hows easily the large seed releases from the fruit of the peach.
When I want a classic peach slice look with that brilliant pink inside, I always try to find freestone peaches. They are easier to cut and release from the stone. For eating out of hand, it’s totally equal on which variety you can choose.
