For the Cake:

For the Easy Strawberry Buttercream:
- ½ cup (1 stick or 113g) butter, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/3 cup strawberry jam or preserves
- 4 or 5 cups confectioners sugar
- 1 tablespoon whole milk
