Season the steaks well on both sides with salt and pepper.
Heat a cast iron skillet over high heat and add in the oil.
When the oil begins to lightly smoke add in the steaks and immediately turn the heat down to medium-high.
Add in the butter.
Cook the steaks for 5 to 6 minutes on each side while constantly basting the steak with the butter and oil in the pan for a medium-rare internal temperature.
Rest for 2 to 3 minutes before slicing or serving.
