Flour Tortillas Recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons lard
  • ½ tablespoon salt (to taste)
  • 1 ½ cup hot water
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Mix flour, lard, salt and baking powder together on low in mixer fitted with paddle attachment.
  2. Slowly add in the hot water in a stream until the dough comes together.
  3. Scoop into 1 tablespoon size balls and press with the tortilla press.
  4. Preheat tortilla pan until very hot (when ready dropping a drop of water on the pan will immediately sizzle and evaporate) and cook 1-2 minutes on each side until cooked through. They should be dry to the touch with small light brown spots on both sides.
