Healthy Chocolate Lover's Banana Bread

1 medium loaf (8½ inch L, 4½ W, 2 ½ H)

  • ½ cup whole grain oat flour
  • ½ cup white whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 Tablespoons 100% natural unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup softened unsalted butter
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup mashed banana (2 medium bananas)
  • ½ cup full fat greek style yogurt


Drizzle with chocolate, garnish with chocolate shards/shavings if desired

    1. Preheat the oven to 350°F with a rack in the center of the oven. Lightly grease a medium loaf pan.
    2. Combine the flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa in a medium bowl and whisk to combine.
    3. In a separate large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and creamy, about 2 minutes
    4. Add in egg and mix so fully combined.
    5. Add vanilla, mashed banana, and yogurt and fully mix.
    6. Slowly add mix in the dry ingredients until well incorporated.
    7. Pour the batter into pans and bake for 45 minutes (convection) or 55 minutes until a cake tester or toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
    8. Remove from the oven and allow to rest in the pan until completely cooled.
    9. Turn the bread out onto a rack to cool completely.
    10. Drizzle with chocolate sauce if desired.
